Shopify return labels: Colissimo and Chronopost

A return label tells the carrier how a parcel gets back to you. Prepare your receiving address, services and customer instructions before the first request to avoid unnecessary back-and-forth with support.

The label handles the transport leg

A return request, a shipping label and a refund are separate steps. Generating a label does not mean that the parcel has been dropped off, received or refunded.

KodaSwap links the request to the Shopify order. You retain the context needed to choose a resolution and provide the customer with shipping instructions.

Colissimo and Chronopost with KodaSwap

KodaSwap supports Colissimo and Chronopost return labels. Its partnership with Smarty365 provides negotiated rates without requiring you to sign a direct carrier contract for that offer.

Available services depend on the origin country and your configuration. Review the options and rates in the app before advertising them to customers.

  • Colissimo: return label generation and return tracking in KodaSwap.
  • Chronopost: return label generation; follow the selected service’s instructions.
  • For another workflow, upload a PDF label manually or provide self-shipping instructions.

Prepare return labels on Shopify

Install KodaSwap, then check these settings before publishing your portal link in the store.

  1. Enter your return address

Provide the recipient, full address and contact details needed for delivery. Use the location that actually receives parcels, especially if you work with a fulfilment provider.

  2. Choose available services

In carrier settings, check the countries covered, enabled services and rates. Make sure a plan is active before preparing a return.

  3. Check parcel information

Review the items and shipping details, including weight. A request containing several items should match the parcel being returned.

  4. Process the request and provide the label

Approve the return according to your rules, then check the label and instructions supplied to the customer. Auto-approval is available from Starter.

  5. Check receipt and resolution

When the parcel arrives, check the items before finalising the refund, store credit or exchange for the chosen flow. Creating a label does not replace this check.

Separate app fees from shipping costs

KodaSwap fees and parcel postage are separate costs. Free includes 10 free returns, followed by €1.50 per processed return. Those free returns are not free shipping labels.

Postage depends on the service and country. Check the available rate in the app and clearly explain to customers how return costs are handled.

What to check before launch

Test the full flow with an eligible order and open the resulting label. Check:

  • The receiving address and recipient contact details.
  • The carrier and service actually available for the customer’s country.
  • Label legibility and accurate parcel information.
  • Customer access to return instructions and emails.
  • The process to use when no carrier service covers the return.
